What should you pay attention to when welding PPR water pipes in winter?

2023-12-16

PP-R water pipes are brittle at low temperatures, so special attention needs to be paid during construction and installation in winter. Today I will introduce to you what you should pay attention to when welding PPR water pipes in winter.

1. First of all, before construction, pay attention to inspect each PPR pipe and check whether both ends of the water pipe are damaged. If there is damage, cut off the damaged part to ensure the integrity of the entire water pipe during welding.

Note: Due to the characteristics of PPR, in winter, in order to prevent damage to the pipe during transportation, if there is damage or uncertainty, reduce the pipe port by about 5cm when installing the pipe. Do not use a hammer or heavy object to knock the water pipe during winter construction to prevent the pipe from being damaged. Prevent pipe bursts.

2. The cutting surface is flat and vertical. When cutting PPR pipes, the cross section must be flat and vertical, otherwise it will cause insufficient welding. Use special PPR pipe shears for pipe cutting, and do not use quick shears for cutting wire pipes.

3. Temperature control of hot melt machine. When hot melting in winter, you must pay attention to whether the temperature of the hot melt machine is normal. The temperature cannot be too high or too low. It is best to choose a hot melt machine with a thick welding head, so that the temperature will be uniform.

4. Hot melt speed. Due to the cold weather in winter, the cooling speed of hot-melted PPR pipes and fittings is relatively faster than in summer, so the speed during operation should also be faster.
